It’s been as busy few weeks here at Gibbons as
we’ve been preparing to launch our exclusive partnership with BioZone
Scientific International, a global leader in ultraviolet applications. This exciting new
collaboration – entitled Gibbons Ultraviolet
Solutions – was officially announced yesterday and will deliver ultraviolet surface disinfection
of cooling coils and drain pans within air handling units, helping our clients
improve indoor air quality while making energy savings of up to 25%.
CoilCare® is an intensive
ultraviolet treatment for air handling units which will allow building managers
to improve indoor air quality, enhance employee wellbeing and productivity and
extend the service life of their equipment with a single solution.
Why is CoilCare®
needed?
An air handling unit’s cooling coil is the perfect
breeding ground for bacteria, viruses and mould. Dust and dirt particles become
attached to the sticky mould on coil fins and tubes and the resulting build-up
is known as biofilm. The accumulation of biofilm leads to reduced equipment
efficiency while posing a significant risk to the health and wellbeing of
building occupants.
How does CoilCare® work?
The CoilCare®
Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) disinfection system applies UVC light
to an AHU’s cooling coil, eradicating existing biofilm and preventing new
biofilm from developing.
The Gibbons Ultraviolet
Solutions system can be applied to new or existing HVAC systems in any area
of a building, from meeting rooms to toilets. This flexible treatment allows
building managers across a wide range of sectors including commercial offices,
hospitals and food production to:
- Enhance HVAC system efficiency
- Reduce airborne bacteria, mould and viruses by up to 99% for superior indoor air quality
- Improve staff health, wellbeing and productivity
- Achieve energy savings of up to 25%
- Extend the service life of their HVAC equipment
Are there any other
products besides CoilCare®?
CoilCare®
is just the beginning. We’ll soon be introducing further products from the
extensive BioZone range to ultimately provide a whole-building solution for
spaces supplied with conditioned air, so look out for more news in the near
future.
