» How to overcome the ‘economic hangover’ in 2016
Tuesday, 2 February 2016
British manufacturers are facing an ‘economic hangover’,
with faltering confidence from 2015 expected to continue during the early part
of this year, according to a recent report.
The annual study from manufacturers’ organisation EEF and
banking company Aldermore found that just under half of UK manufacturers
believed their organisation faced more risks than opportunities in 2016.
Meanwhile, just 23 per cent of those surveyed said they expected global
economic conditions to improve this year.
However, many
manufacturers are taking a positive approach, with 41 per cent of respondents
planning to use the opportunity to make their processes more efficient by
investing in technology and innovation.
Energy-intensive electric motor-powered
applications such as mixers, conveyors and pumps present an ideal opportunity
for making considerable savings in manufacturing. Not only can managers upgrade
to the latest electric motors, they can also add variable-speed
drives to their systems in order to ensure motors run only as fast as the
process requires at a given time.
As a provider of electric motors and ABB drives, not to
mention pumps,
gearboxes and air handling equipment, Gibbons can provide a complete package of
energy-efficient equipment that could provide a return on investment within 12
months.
