On this day (2nd February) each year, many
Americans celebrate the emergence of a supposedly weather-predicting groundhog
from its burrow just outside Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Groundhog Day
originated in 1887 and received widespread fame over a hundred years later when
a comedy film of the same name was released, featuring a TV weatherman stuck in
a time loop, forced to experience the same day – 2nd February – over
and over.
Groundhog Day has since become a popular idiom for
describing an unwanted situation that repeats itself, seemingly without end.
It’s certainly an experience many electric motor users
will be familiar with, as common faults such as overheating, shaft imbalance
and premature bearing wear consistently reoccur, bringing the same costly
results.
Many applications in industries as diverse as food and
beverage processing, concrete production and paper manufacturing rely on the
consistent performance of electric motors, with
unplanned downtime leading to the frustrating and avoidable expense of lost
production.
If you’re concerned about the performance of your electric
motors and want more than just a quick fix, give Gibbons a call. Our expert
engineers will inspect your motor and wherever possible we’ll repair or rewind it to
the highest standard, once and for all. Alternatively, if we find that repair
is not economically viable we’ll provide an honest appraisal and offer a
high-performance replacement tailored to your process.
