We’re looking forward to making 2014 our best ever year here at Gibbons Group so we thought it was a good time to have a quick look back at the highlights of another successful 12 months.

Projects

We’ve continued our rapid expansion this year, exporting our products as far afield as the USA, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates. We’re fully equipped to deal with large-scale commissioning and installation projects all over the UK and Europe, but we’ll never forget our roots and are proud to continue serving local businesses large and small. Here are just a few of the hundreds of projects we’ve tackled in 2013.
·         We’ve embarked on work across the continent this year, including a trip to Belgium to install two humidification systems for Verdon and a job for European EMC in Sweden for the manufacture and installation of a sliding door control system in a hospital.
·         At the beginning of the year we were asked by Bairds Malt in Witham to install a ‘watchdog’ system on their elevators and conveyors. They were so pleased with our work they commissioned us to do the same job on their site in Grantham.
·         As we headed into the long, hot summer we were hired to carry out an assessment and upgrade of the existing cooling tower plant for one of the UK’s largest supermarkets.
·         In the autumn we responded to an urgent request to replace a pump system at Colchester Oyster Fishery, with the lives of four tonnes of live lobster and other shellfish on the line.
·         We were recently tasked with the maintenance of 24 jet fans serving a major road tunnel. As the fans are used to control pollution, carbon monoxide levels and smoke in the event of a fire, it really was a life-critical job.

New faces

As our business continued to grow in 2013, so did our workforce. In order to continue providing the highest standards in products and services, we set about recruiting in all areas of the business.
Nadya Ludhor arrived as Marketing Manager in March, followed by Charlotte May as Marketing Assistant in July. October saw Arthur Nunn become Gibbons’ Delivery Driver and in November a new Apprentice Electrician, Ben Jones, joined our engineering team. Later that month Layla Drewell arrived as Finance Manager before Carl Brennand took up the post of Junior Copywriter in December.

Office extension

All these extra staff meant that we had to have somewhere for them to work, so we decided to extend our office complex. Work began in June, with our Twitter account following the development every step of the way. The extension was completed on schedule in mid-September and now houses our busy Marketing and Business Administration teams.

Gibbons in the community

When we’re not hard at work, we love being involved in local events and causes – here are a few of our most memorable from this year.
·         We were delighted to attend the invitation-only Doe show in February, an annual three-day event for leading agriculture, construction and groundcare companies to showcase their products and services.
·         In May we held our annual golf day, as 20 players in six teams descended on Benton Hall Golf Club in Witham for a day of sunshine on the greens. We even published the results!
·         At the end of August we supported the fundraising efforts at the Woodup Pool Fun Day event in Tollesbury, helping a local cause whilst having a great day out.

As you can see, it was a year to remember at Gibbons Group, but we’re already working hard to ensure we offer you an even higher standard of products and services in 2014. Happy New Year from everyone at Gibbons Group!
