» Carbon footprint: Why Gibbons is ahead of the game
Friday, 3 January 2014
Energy efficiency and reducing carbon footprint have become hugely important to the manufacturing, production, commercial, industrial and agricultural markets in recent years. But did you know that Gibbons Engineering Group has been at the forefront of energy saving for some 14 years?
The Government’s recent Infrastructure Carbon Review illustrates how reducing carbon emissions not only has a positive environmental impact but could also save the UK £1.46 billion by 2050.
As a founder member of the ABB Drives Alliance – an elite network of the UK’s top 12 providers of ABB low-voltage AC drives – Gibbons has long been dedicated to reducing our customers’ energy costs whilst helping them to achieve their carbon emissions targets.
The ABB Drives Alliance was formed in 2000, and since then Gibbons has proudly contributed to estimated CO2 savings of more than 7 million tonnes.
But how do we do this?
A Gibbons engineer visits the site and carries out a meticulous energy appraisal to identify areas in which our customer can increase their energy efficiency. After collecting and analysing efficiency data, we prepare a report containing recommendations and advise the annual savings that can be achieved.
Gibbons isn’t only committed to reducing its customers’ carbon emissions; we also recognise our own impact on the planet and hold full ISO 14001 environmental management accreditation.
