As the maintenance course resumes at Colchester Institute’s Engineer Training Centre following the Christmas break, returning students have been given a helping hand thanks to Gibbons Engineering Group.

Director and Sales Engineer Matthew Gibbons has donated a number of scrap gearboxes to the Institute’s Stanway campus, where trainees develop skills across a wide range of engineering competences including maintenance. Once students have demonstrated a good level of safe practical ability and understanding, they may enter the workplace to continue training.

Matthew said: “We have strong links with Colchester Institute, as many of our engineers have completed their training there. We were happy that we could make this donation and play a small part in the development of tomorrow’s engineers. Who knows, some of the students practising on Gibbons gearboxes may work for us in the future!”
