A new standard is being developed by ISO (International Organization for Standardization) which looks to help companies across all sectors cut their energy use in pump applications.

ISO 14414 (Pump system energy assessment) recognises that in many applications, pump systems consume far more energy than is required. The standard will allow organisations to calculate the minimum amount of energy required by their pump systems and therefore identify ways to improve efficiency.

Companies are advised to carry out an energy assessment of their pump system, and ISO 14414 makes recommendations on:
  • Organising and conducting an assessment
  • Analysing the resulting data
  • Reporting and documenting findings.

ISO 14414 covers industrial and commercial pump systems as diverse as irrigation, water treatment and biochemical processes, all of which are supplied, maintained and repaired by Gibbons’ experienced Pumps & Controls division.
