The Gibbons workshop got a blast from the past this week
when a Jacuzzi pump came in for repair – as it was supplied by our own Fans
division over 21 years ago!
On 28th January 1993, while Whitney Houston was top of the
singles chart with ‘I Will Always Love You’, the pump was being carefully
assembled and tested at our Tollesbury premises. Since then it’s reliably
powered our customer’s Jacuzzi for more than two decades before recently
developing a fault.
Upon inspection, the customer saw that the pump still had
its original tag and decided that there was no-one better to repair it than the
company that had supplied it. They brought it back to us and it’s now back in
excellent working order thanks to our skilled engineers. Our customer certainly
felt that they’d got their money’s worth from the pump, so here’s to the next
21 years!
If 21 years doesn’t seem that long, here’s a few other
things that were happening in January 1993 to put it in perspective (and make
many of us feel old!):
- Norwich City topped the Premier League
- The average house price was £68,032
- A litre of petrol cost 50p
- Zayn Malik of boy band One Direction was born.
