Along with our own range of expertly-manufactured products,
we supply ABB electric motors for various applications. In this blog we discuss
the benefits of premium efficiency process performance motors.
You may already be aware that we complement our wide range
of in-house products with ABB electric motors. Today we’re asking what exactly
an ABB premium efficiency process performance motor is and who it’s ideal for.
What is a premium efficiency process performance electric
motor?
These motors are built to deliver the utmost energy
efficiency and reliability, providing maximum value for their entire lifecycle.
ABB have combined state-of-the-art design, the finest materials and
cutting-edge production techniques to create a motor that offers exceptional performance
in even the most demanding conditions.
What designs are premium efficiency process performance
motors
available in?
They are rated IE3 for efficiency which means that not only
will they cut users’ energy bills, they also offer a way to reduce carbon
footprint. There are two, four and six-pole motors available in frame sizes
80-355 (cast iron) and 80-250 (aluminium). Output ranges from 0.75 kW to 355 kW
with voltage up to 690 V.
What makes these motors special?
Premium efficiency process performance motors offer low
starting currents and a superior torque curve. They also produce less noise
than lower-efficiency models. These motors require low maintenance and offer a
longer lifecycle as a result of cooler running - because of this they have longer
warranties than many other motors.
Who uses premium efficiency process performance motors?
Users tend to be OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and
those operating industrial applications. Customers concerned about the EU MEPS
(European Minimum Energy Performance Standard) regulations set to be
implemented in 2015 can rest assured that the motors already meet those
requirements.
