Much of the north of England and Wales was affected by
severe rainfall and flooding over the weekend, with further heavy downpours
expected in parts of the UK today.
In Cumbria, rivers burst their banks which led to homes
being flooded and transport links disrupted, while rail services in mid and North
Wales were cancelled as conditions deteriorated.
Parts of North and West Yorkshire were also affected by
localised flooding, with the Environment Agency warning of the potential for
“more significant” flooding by the end of the week.
