must be looked after properly to ensure you enjoy the best possible performance
from it. Take a look at our five handy tips for maintaining your submersible
pump all year round.
- Check the inlet screen to ensure it’s not blocked up with debris. You should do this every three or four months.
- Ensure the float is unobstructed and can move freely.
- Remove any visible debris such as leaves, mud and stones from the immediate vicinity of the pump.
- Test your pump by slowly pouring a bucket of water into the area it’s placed in. The float should rise along with the water level, automatically starting the pump. If the pump doesn’t kick in, check the power connection and float switch for faults.
- During the colder months, check the discharge line to make sure it isn’t frozen or clogged up. If necessary, unblock the air vent hole in the line.
