In our latest blog we see how our engineers and pump services team helped our a local company when its pump system failed and put several crustaceans lives in the balance.

With four tonnes of live lobster and other shellfish, all waiting for despatch to London’s finest restaurants, downtime of a 4,000 litre filtration system is not an option for the Colchester Oyster Fishery. So when a pump on a state- of-the-art filtration system failed, the company needed a rapid replacement in order to maintain the lobsters freshly caught condition.

“We turned to Gibbons primarily because they are on our door step and we know they are reliable and efficient, having used them many times before.” Says Graham Larkin, Operations Manager.
On this occasion Gibbons was able to remove the failed Worthing Simpson pump and replace it with a similar model.  “It arrived within three days of ordering, on time and painted accordingly. We were very impressed with the high level of service.

“Having a company like Gibbons on your doorstep is essential. We have hundreds of pumps on a site like this. I get many calls from pump and motor repairers, but sending equipment away for repair would severely jeopardise our business. Gibbons can rewind motors and repair pumps, bearing and other mechanical equipment, extremely quickly and efficiently.”
